Manos Del Uruguay

Manos del Uruguay is a non for profit organization created in 1968 to provide with jobs to the rural women in their hometowns.
Today, 45 years later, they are still committed to the same objective; to give economical, social and personal development opportunities to the women in Uruguay’s countryside.The artisans are organized in cooperatives that are located in small towns of Uruguay’s countryside.
Manos spins and dyes their yarns in the coops of Fraile Muerto, Rio Branco and Dragón.
Since its foundation, Manos del Uruguay has been deeply committed towards the social and economic development of the rural women.
This was acknowledged by the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), by appointing Manos as a member in 2009.
